    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    You will play a key role in the company’s development, notably by developing the hardware architecture and the choice of hardware and software components embedded in its latest medical device. You will act as a specialist and ensure the follow-up and efficiency of projects while contributing to the evolution of internal practices. Finally, you will have the opportunity to elevate your position as you will be responsible for building and supervising your own team.

    Thus, under the supervision of the Head of Engineering, the incumbent will assume the following duties:

     

    RESPONSABILITIES

     

    Embedded hardware and software development and design 

    • Participate in the development and design reviews of medical devices;
    • Develop low-level hardware and software architecture (firmware);
    • Design electronic printed circuits boards (PCBs) and select electronic components
    • Design analog and digital circuits (signal conditioning, filters, etc.);
    • Select and build operating systems and kernels for embedded architecture;
    • Program software drivers, firmware, libraries and executable files;
    • Define user requirements and engineering specifications refereed to applicable regulatory standards. 

     

    Protocols and testing

    • Write and develop product qualification tests and Clinical Protocols;
    • Perform electromagnetic compatibility and protective circuitry tests in a medical environment;
    • Write and execute quality assurance protocols for design validation and verification, namely unit, integration and regressive tests;
    • Globally manage inspection processes of hardware/electronic products.

     

    Quality Management

    • Participate in the drafting of quality assurance documents, particularly with respect to design validation of electrical/electronic products;
    • Prepare documentation in support of design history files and regulatory submissions related to the electrical design of medical devices.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • The personality of the job! Rigor, initiative, autonomy, communication skills, ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, leadership, team management, creativity in problem solving;
    • Hold a university degree in electrical or electronic engineering or any related field; 
    • Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in electronic board design, preferably related to medical devices and ultrasound; 
    • Demonstrated experience in electronic circuit design in a real-time signal and image processing environment;
    • Experience in embedded systems programming (DSP, FPGA, ARM, GPU) and GPU/CUDA programming;
    • Prior knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment related to the development of medical devices (ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2, ISO 14971 CMDCAS, 21 CFR, etc.).

    THE OBJECTIVES OF THE DIGITAL MARKETING INTERNSHIP:

    The digital marketing intern will help generate new business opportunities by planning and executing various marketing tactics such as: email campaign management, content creation, social media management and much more.

    The incumbent will perform the following duties under the supervision of the Project Coordinator:

    RESPONSABILITIES:

    • Develop and execute digital strategy: email marketing, social media, webinars.
    • Provide new ideas for the implementation of digital management tools.
    • Ensure the cohesion of the company’s brand in all marketing communications.

  • ELECTRONIC ENGINEER (FPGA) - DEVELOPMENT OF MEDICAL DEVICES

    OBJECTIVES OF THE ELECTRONIC ENGINEER POSITION:

    SONOSCOPE is looking for a digital electronic engineer who will play a key-role in the success of the company. He / she will design the ultrasound beam forming FPGA software and be involved for the selection of material and embedded software components of a medical device developed by the company.

    The incumbent will assume the following functions under the supervision of the Chief Engineer:

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Product development and hardware design

    • Participate in the development of medical devices and design reviews.
    • Review the design of electronic printed circuits boards (PCB).
    • Design and program digital (FPGA) circuits.
    • Perform performance analysis of different image processing approaches (FPGAs and GPUs).
    • Define user requirements  and engineering specifications referred to applicable regulatory standards.

    Protocols and testing

    • Design digital circuits and perform electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) tests.
    • Perform signal integrity analysis and tests.
    • Design, write and perform methods for product testing in coordination with the quality assurance team and clinicians.
    • Write and execute quality assurance protocols for design validation and verification, namely unit, integration and regressive tests.

    Quality Management

    • Prepare documentation for quality assurance, more specifically for design validation and verification of electronic/electric components and products.
    • Prepare documentation to support design history files and regulatory submissions of Sonoscope medical devices.

    Other responsibilities

    • Participate in product and process risk assessments.
    • Support SONOSCOPE’S intellectual property.
    • Collaborate with different subcontractors and partners.

    The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electric or Electronic Engineering.
    • 8 to 10 years of experience in FPGA design, preferably related to medical devices and/or ultrasound.
    • Proven track records in electronic circuit design in a real-time image processing environment.
    • Experience with highly regulated environments (ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1 et 60601-1-2, ISO 14971, ISO 14155 , 21 CFR Part 820, etc.).
    • Experience in programming embedded systems (DSP, FPGA, GPU / CUDA).
    • Knowledge of hardware architectures such as INTEL, XILINX, NXP, NVIDIA, AMD, etc.
    • Knowledge of protocols (including JTAG, I2C, SPI).
    • Knowledge of software architectures and operating systems such as UNIX, LINUX / Debian, BSD, FreeBSD.
    • Knowledge of OpenGL language, Visual C ++ is an advantage.
    • Knowledge of SVN, Git, GitHub, Bitbucket version management tools.
    • Experience in deploying integration tests (Bamboo / Jenkins).
    • Experience with AGILE / SCRUM methods.

    OBJECTIVES OF THE ULTRASOUND ENGINEER POSITION:

    SONOSCOPE is seeking a Physics or Mechanical Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in ultrasound who will play a key role in the development of the company. He / she will contribute to the development of the medical device, its architecture, as well as act as a physics expert for Sonoscope.

    The incumbent will assume the following functions under the supervision of the Chief Engineer:

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Product development

    • Develop theoretical and practical methods for understanding and optimizing the physics of ultrasound propagation in a medical context.
    • Assist the company in the selection and development of technological solutions to optimize the performance of a medical device.
    • Support the engineering team in understanding the physics of waves and issues encountered to strategically orient the hardware and software design of medical devices.
    • Develop and write technical specifications in accordance with applicable norms and regulations.
    • Develop theoretical methods as well as experimental/laboratory tests to validate and verify the quality of medical devices.
    • Participate in the development of signal processing and image reconstruction methods for real-time imaging.
    • Participate in the development of methods and design review of medical devices.

    Other responsibilities

    • Support product validation in a clinical study process
    • Participate in the assessment of risks associated with products and processes.
    • Contribute and write quality assurance procedures for product validation and verification.

    • Excellent theoretical knowledge of the physics of ultrasound waves
    • Demonstrated experience of ultrasound in the laboratory or in a business context
    • 5 years of practical experience in the ultrasound industry
    • Knowledge of C / C ++, Python, Matlab languages
